Emmanuel Lutheran Church Women (ELCW)

Retired Men's Group -- is an informal group of men who get together monthly for fellowship over coffee, tea, and sweet rolls followed by a work session to make improvements around the church building and grounds. An average of fourteen men attend the meetings.

As the group does not maintain a treasury, each attendee contributes $1.00 to cover the cost of the food and beverages for the day. All retired men of Emmanuel are invited to attend the Group's meetings even though they may not be able to participate in the work projects. The dates and times for each meeting are announced in the "Voice of Emmanuel" newsletter and the Sunday bulletins.

Numerous work projects are planned during the year, both inside and outside of the church. During the winter months the work schedule concentrates on inside projects. During good weather much attention is devoted to the beautification of the exterior of the church. We are responsible for the cleanup of River Blvd. from Michigan Avenue to Cross Street under Ypsilanti's "Adopt-A-Street" program. We plant and maintain many flowers around the church and in the street margin and median. In December we get together at a local restaurant with our wives or guests for a Christmas dinner.

Should there be any questions regarding the Retired Men's Group, please call Herb Miller (734-483-3905).
