Pastor's Message
January 2010
To the People of God:
Blessed are you, O holy God:
you are the Life and Light of all.
By your powerful word you created all things.
Through the prophets you called your
people to be a light to the nations.
Blessed are you for Jesus, your Son.
He is your Light, shining in our darkness
and revealing to us your mercy and might....
.... Remembering, therefore, his preaching and
healing, his dying and rising, and his promise to
come again, we await that day when all the
universe will rejoice in your holy and
life-giving light.
The above is a portion taken from a Eucharistic Prayer that is appropriate for the Season of Epiphany. It is a prayer filled with promise and direction. In the next two months Emmanuel will be asked to participate economically and communally in a renewing ministry process. The 150th Anniversary events of 2009 have foreshadowed some possibilities for the future. It will now be the task for all of us to consider deeply the direction God is calling Emmanuel.
A tentative date for the ENTIRE congregation to participate in a major planning event is February 6. Keep that date open and be watching for more information in bulletins over the next few weeks.
Let the Light and Life of all be with you in this new year of 2010.
One of Christ’s servants,
Pastor David A. Hendricks - Child of God
