Emmanuel Lutheran Youth
We would like to thank all those that attended and helped out with the spaghetti dinner on November 12. Special thanks to John Priess for organizing and cooking the meal in order to support the youth activities at Emmanuel.
As one of our first outreach projects, we have decided to write to a member of our Armed Forces serving our country in Iraq. We are going through the organization AnySoldier.com. There are soldiers who receive little or no mail and we would like to change that for as many as possible. We have chosen a unit that is stationed in Iraq until September 2011. There are currently 20 men and 15 women in this unit. We are welcoming all members of Emmanuel to write a letter to a serviceman/woman expressing support for them. They are asking mainly for letters but if other donations wish to be made suggestions are personal hygiene items, candy, books, notepads, crossword puzzles and snacks. We would like to have all letters and donations to us by Sunday, December 12. This is an opportunity to reach out to those who are so far away from home and family for such long periods of time in order to let them know that people are thinking of them, praying for them and supporting them. Please keep letters upbeat and relatively secular, as we don’t know exactly who the letters will reach.
We will be having our one and only youth group meeting for December on Sunday, December 12 from 6:00 - 9:00 pm in the church lounge. This will also be our youth group Christmas celebration. All high school age youth are invited and welcome to bring your friends. We will have games and food and time to spend together celebrating Jesus’ birth. It should be a fun time. See you there.
